Verya

Every word is built from open syllables. Every syllable is one mark, one breath, one shape turned to face a direction. Nothing to memorize but a wheel.

01 The idea

Verya was designed around one rule: if you can say it, you can write it — instantly. There is no spelling to memorize, because the shape of a syllable IS its sound.

Every syllable is consonant + vowel. No clusters, no silent letters, no syllables ending in a consonant. pa, ki, ru — never "spr" or "-nk".
10 consonants, 5 vowels. Small enough to hold in your head after one read-through.
One glyph shape per consonant. The vowel is just which way that shape points. Learn 11 shapes and 5 directions — that's the whole alphabet.
Grammar has no exceptions. Word order and small particle-words do all the work verb endings and irregular plurals do in English.

02 Sounds

03 The script

Each consonant is a fixed mark at the top of a stem. The vowel rotates the whole thing to one of five compass points — a north, e, i, o, u stepping clockwise. The dot at the center is just the anchor every syllable shares. Tap any glyph below to hear it spoken.


04 Translate & listen

05 Grammar, briefly

Word order: Subject – Verb – Object, same as English.
Tense is a small word placed before the verb: te past, none = present, mo future.
Plural is the noun plus la after it. No irregular forms, ever.
Questions end the sentence with ka. Negation is nu before the verb.
Possession: owner + no + thing owned — "ta no wasa" = his house.
Adjectives come after the noun they describe.

07 A real, installable font

This isn't just a picture of the script — Verya-Regular.ttf is a working font file. Type p, t, k… and each vowel that follows automatically fuses onto it into a single glyph, wherever the font is applied.

Ligature merging (letters fusing into one glyph) works automatically in most modern browsers, Google Docs, LibreOffice, and design apps like Canva or Figma once the font is installed/uploaded there. Plain system text fields — Messages, most stock keyboards, many chat apps — generally ignore custom OpenType ligatures and render each letter separately instead. The font still displays fine there; it just won't auto-merge syllables. That's an OS limitation, not a font one.
  1. iPhone / iPad: the easiest route is a font-installer app (e.g. "Fonts" by Redokun, or iFont) — open the .ttf with it and follow its prompt to add a configuration profile, then the font becomes selectable inside apps like Google Docs, Word, Pages, and Canva.
  2. Android: most phones need a launcher/theme app that supports custom fonts (Samsung: Settings → Display → Font, then "Add fonts"), or upload the .ttf directly inside apps that support custom fonts (Canva, Google Slides via extension, etc).
  3. Mac: double-click the .ttf → Font Book → Install Font. It's then available in every app font menu.
  4. Windows: double-click the .ttf → Install. Same result.
  5. Anywhere, no install: use this page as your typing tool — write in the box above section 04, then hit "save as image" to get a picture you can paste into any chat, story, or post. Images always render correctly, everywhere, with no font dependency.
